Running Out of LINE OA Messages? How to Calculate and Top Up Broadcasts
"Not enough messages" is one of the most common LINE Official Account problems in Thailand, especially when friend numbers grow quickly from ads. Here is how LINE counts messages, how to estimate your monthly need, and whether to upgrade your plan or top up.
How LINE counts messages
Messages sent from your account to friends, such as broadcasts and push messages, use your quota. One send to one friend counts as one message. With 5,000 friends, one broadcast uses 5,000 messages.
Replying to customers in 1:1 chat, and automatic replies when a customer messages you first, generally do not count toward your broadcast quota.

Upgrade or top up?
On Free? You cannot buy extra messages. Upgrade to Basic or Pro first.
On Basic and regularly over 15,000? If you go over by about 5,000 messages a month, the overage (5,000 × 0.10 = 500 THB) roughly equals the 500 THB price difference to Pro, which includes 35,000 messages. Moving to Pro usually makes more sense.
On Pro and still short? Top up with a message pack. The more you buy, the lower the rate.

Four ways to use fewer messages
- Target your broadcasts by gender, age or area instead of sending to everyone
- Combine updates into one card or rich message instead of several separate sends
- Let the rich menu answer questions so you do not need to re-broadcast offers
- Check open rates and send less often when engagement drops

No. The Free plan includes 300 messages a month and extra messages cannot be purchased. Upgrade to Basic or Pro first.
Do chat replies count toward the message quota?
1:1 chat replies and automatic replies when a customer messages you first generally do not count. Broadcasts and push messages sent to friends do.
